yeah, my gas tank rusted out, and the only replacement is the bigger tank outa the 75? plus i got the spare tire and all that stuff, and a sub back there too. add to that i have terribly saggy springs, the back rides kinda low
O.K.....first thing: I asked about rust and you said the car had none. I see rust. I will have to say, the rust looks minimal. But....it does have some rust. My thought was that maybe the car had som much rust that the steering box had rotted off the side of the frame rail, but from looking at this picture, I would say that is probably not your problem. Looks like a solid car. Your Dad won't let you cut the front coils. I would tell your Dad that those of us on the board are saying the car is dangerous and should NOT be driven. So....something has to be done. If you are saying the car is way too high in the front....I suspect that is part of your problem. You really need to post up a recent picture of the car from the side so we can see how high it is sitting.
thats the only rust on the car besides the battery tray. this is a solid car. I turned down a 1999 bmw 325i for the mav and i dont regret it. im gonna start with the idler arm bushing. i have no idea how oild it is or anything. we will see where that gets me
this is about as recent as i got. it still has the small gas tank and no sub in the trunk, so the back rides alot lower but that's pretty much it.
i'd be looking at the column.when you launch do you use the steering wheel to hold yourself(pulling on it) im not sure how to explane what i mean.I had a friend years ago who was a big guy and when he drove his Chevelle hard he did this and the column would bind up on him making it hard to steer.Just a thought.
My Dad was the same way about cutting up original parts. Pick up a pair of junk yard springs & keep the stock ones on the shelf. That got me past my Dad, might work for your's to.
The car doesn't look too high to me, but you have to get this looked at. That car is dangerous to drive like that. Might want to take it to a pro.
so i just found out that i have a broken motor mount, broke today. could that have somehow caused the steering lock?
but the steering has been locking up for a while and the mount broke today. i herd it pop and the shifter hit my hand so hard i have a bruse. it couldnt be that.
