National Parts Depot is again sponsoring the all Ford meet in January, in Silver Springs, Florida. For those of you who have not been, the Silver Springs Park is an idyllic setting, and it normally costs about $25, to get in. For the first 1000 people who register, it is free. Most years, it produces about 700 Fords, and there were about a dozen Comet/Mavs, a couple dozen Falcons, and hundreds of Mustangs. Most years produce about a dozen Shelbys and an equal number of Torinos. Lots of interesting stuff, like the 68 Mustang w/ a fi Lincoln 32 valve motor, some POS Honda w/ a 5.0, and the like.
Not to change the subject, but has anyone been to the NPD warehouse in Ocala, FL? I stopped there while I was down in Florida one of the last times and the kids were checking out the cool cars they had in the main lobby area. One of the guys asked us if we wanted to see a couple more cars. He then led us to a room that's kinda hidden in the back. We went into the room (which is huge) and my jaw dropped. It's loaded with tons of beautiful cars! What a nice collection. (Just needs a Maverick or Comet ) For anyone who hasn't been there, if you get the chance, check it out. And it's free!!
Mustangs Unlimited in Georgia keeps several cars in the showroom and another 20 or so in the warehouse. They swap them in and out of the showroom for variety. They don't generally allow people in the warehouse but brought me in the back because I asked them if they had a sample of Grabber Orange paint. They had an Original Cougar GT in the back Grabber Orange with white interior and black convertible top ...
Black396, So are you gonna be at the Silver Springs NPD show? I've already sent in my entry form. I'm gonna try to talk Jason Miller and 289Mav. into going.
Black396 will be there. I am confident the 73 Comet will be thru, we are putting the trim back on today.
Black396, What part of Florida are you from? What route will you be taking to get to Silver Springs? Maybe we can all meet along the way and cruise in together.
I live in Ocala. Probably the easiest place to stay is the Holiday Inn, across from the springs. Are you going to the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona? I will be there, but probalby will have a Fairmont as the creator of the Shaker hood wants to show it off. Charles
Call NPD, but I believe that if you do not register and bring a car, you gotta pay full Silver Springs admission price. Registration is free for the first 1000 cars.
Picky, Hell no. Its for fun. Yeah, there are a lotta nice cars but there are more drivers. Beaters, bombs and BS are all welcome. Its a fun show in a very scenic setting (for decades Yankees have paid lots of money to do what you can do for free.) The sponser, National Parts Depot peddles Mustang parts, and a lot of them are identical to Mav parts, so get a catalogue. One tip; Don't let them park you near the giraffe pen! Maverick73, You may already be aware of this but, to enter the show it must be a FORD or Mercury. Charles, I live in Ocoee and I will drive back and forth each day (1.5 hrs each way). Thanks for the hotel info anyway. I'm not gonna make the Turkey Rod Run this year. I'm headed to Helen Ga. for thanksgiving in the mountains. Heres the site you can go to and print out your registration. http://www.npdlink.com/silversprings/ss2005roundup.html
I suggest you get there early to get a decent spot, and not stand/idle in line for an hour. You can always walk out to the Denny's across the street.
Hey PART-TIME, yes I know it's only Fords,Mercurys. but thanks for leting me know anyways. If I do enter a car it would be my sons Maverick.
