I've had numerous of mufflers types on my 200ci project.

best muffler by far is a turbo type.

    I've tried flowmasters, magnaflows, glasspacks.

But the best ended up being a cherrybomb turbo II muffler. it was under $20 at autozone.

In my opinion....all of the mufflers mentioned are WAY TOO LOUD for a 6 cyl car. Just stick with the baisc factory type muffler.

Welcome. I favor the turbo muffler as well.

But that's not fun at all! :D
The turbo muffler is quiet during cruising. I can have a full conversation with out raising my voice level at all.
You don't hear the exhaust until you really get on the throttle.

I like the note of inline engines at higher rpm's though.

Unlike V8s which sound great at any RPM.

I had a turbo on the 1974 LDO I had. That is...I HAD a turbo muffler on it. Yes...it was noisy.....just as you described. :D

I forgot to mention That I have a dual pipe setup after the muffler, which will change the tone and loudness level over a single.

Any who here's an old sound clip of it.
    Cherrybomb turbo II

^I had someone else start the car in that video, and I forgot to tell them how to start a carbureted car :D. The second part of the video is when the exhaust cutout is opened.

and a clip with the Flowmaster 40 Series...sounds exactly the same at WOT as the turbo. Except this one is louder at cruising and has a deeper tone.

I wish I had recorded sound clips with the magnaflow and glasspack.

They both were awful and gave it a tractor sound.
