one of the things i want to do with my life is design cars. and by having a maverick, which not many people in the U.S. can say cause most of them are in mexico and brazil lol, im able to have a more unique design than most people do. one of my dream projects is to take a 74' mav like i have now and put a 351 windsor bored out to 427 ford racing small block specs with maybe a 4.10 or 4.11 gear setup and a 6 speed manual. i also want to do the interior black and gray with touches of yellow. the outside i want mustang 2 style rims, prolly 18's in the front and 20's in the back with street drag radials. i also want to fiberglass the trunk and the metal pieces on the edges of the trunk so tht it has a more distinct spoiler shape. i want to widen and slightly lower the whole car with those downforce pieces tht go underneath the bumper like a front spoiler. i want to fiberglass the grabber hood and raise the center of it kinda like the elanor big snake but not so distinct. i want all new electronics with seperate coil packs and electronic ignition and efi with a supercharger. i want my mufflers out the side going through the rocker panel not under it. and the gas cap to be placed on the side like the 67 shelby. i want an aluminum gas tank in the trunk. i also want euro headlights like on the new mustangs to replace the rectangle fronts and maybe fab up some rear ones to work like euros too. i want a great sound system like you find in these riceburners out here tht looks great too, a hidden rolecage tht hides above the cieling liner and behind the seats. i also want my gauges to be set up like the dodge vipers like a cockpit. i want this thing to be race-ready and showcar quality to boot. itll have great gas milage and increadible hp and tourqe. this is my dream car. enphasis on the word dream but maybe, just maybe ill do it. depends on how good life is to me. one day you might see it on the front of all the car magazines, you never know lol:rolleyes:

some things i was thinking of was going with a 74 convertible. the only prob is finding them. theyre there just not very many. then maybe go with the drag-n-fly design. it reminds me of like the shelby cobra and the shelby gr1, but slimmer. it also has tht distinct spoiler i wass tlking about.

    how old are you
your dreams are grand but your knowledge is not so grand.
first any of the 351 motors are all considered small blocks
429 cobra jet specs are just not applicable to any of the 351s
mustang 2s had several different style wheels steel and mag none were bigger than 14"s.
there was never any factory convertible mavericks ever.

sorry to have to set you straight and mess with your dreams. but it will help you to make your dreams reality. please feel free to ask any questions you have and you will get the best answers possible

ok for one the "351 modified" is considered to be in the big block family and ford racing makes a 427 small block equivelent to the 351 windsor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-6009-427F/. "Ford Racing has released a new crate engine, one that is built off of the new BOSS 351. The Ford Racing 427 crate engine is designed for anything requiring 500+ HP. This Ford small block offers a 10.5:1 compression ratio
The company that created the 427 FE engine line announces a modern version of the legendary motor. Built on Ford Racing’s new BOSS 351 block, the 427 crate engine is engineered and built for drive ability and durability while still offering a throaty growl. The 427 crate engine is ideal for street rods, kit cars and all Ford projects requiring big power in a reliable small block package.
    • 427 cubic inches (4.125″ bore x 4.00″ stroke), 9.5 deck 351 BOSS block with 4-bolt mains
    • 535 hp @ 5600 / 545 lb.ft. torque @ 4500
    • 10.5:1 compression ratio
    • Neutral balance forged steel crank, steel H-beam connecting rods and forged pistons
    • Aluminum Ford Racing Z cylinder heads with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves w/ 63 CC chambers
    • Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
    • Includes water pump and harmonic balancer
    • Distributor, Ignition Wires, Intake, Fuel System, Exhaust and Flywheel are needed to run
    • Standard 12/12 FRPP Crate Engine Warranty
    • $8,8000.00 MSRP". -Dragzine.com
I apoligize for saying 429 cobra jet, i got mixed up about which initial c.i. they start off with. as to the convertible believe it or not there was one. its called the runabout and its on this site runabout1.jpg . you can look it up. and they DO make mustang 2 replica wheels in almost any size and in aluminum. my specific words were "mustang 2 style rims." and as for my age i am 17. i havent even graduated highschool. age is not a limiter on knowledge, but thx for the concern.

i want to do the same with the engine or i'v seen a viper engine(if i can aford one haha) and i want my interior like a saddle color with touches of burnt orange. and the wheels i want are american raceing "Maverick's" 18's in front with 20's in back. the back spoiler I like the look of a Mach1 on their. are you replaceing the bumper with the 72's or are you keeping the big chunky ones? i like the carbon fiber hood maverickman makes my friend has a 72 mav with a hood kinda like the elanor his wasent the best look but his was a bit high. iv had the same idea with the exhaust also i think ill be a good touch. now i dont like the idea about moving the gas cap because it will loose the old school style but i like the idea about the euro headlights. now i have a great sound system but im not done yet i have 4 6x9's 2 in the back and 2 up front in my custom center console and i have 2 5.25's in the kicker pannel I have non of these speakes amped or anything but they but cars with subs to shame i have 2 12" rockford's im gonna make a custom box for the trunk(as you can see this car is for fun but i can run it down the track and still take it to a show) dude i got a big dream for my car too I wanted it for 5 years before it was finaly given to me a year ago. im hopeing my life will let me have my way with this car as well

    Welcome :Welcome:

I don't get this though?

There were way more mavericks sold here in the US than in other markets.
Roughly 2 Million actually(not including comets)
