IT will bolt up but some Granadas came with 8.8 rears. Personelly, I'd prefer an 8"

Pretty sure no leaf spring Granadas had 8.8" rears...it was only the Fox Body Granadas that would have them. In that case they'd be 4 lug. Not sure if the 8.8 was ever in the Granadas (I thought it came out in 1985??) but if it was, it'd be in the Fox body cars.

1985 mustangs had 7.5 tracction loc rear ends, 1986 was the first year for 8.8s but only in v8 cars. I have tons of experience with 79-93 stangs(y)

I have personelly seen a granada with a rear cover on the rear axle. I figured it's an 8.8 and not a 7.5. I talk to this guy every year at Ford Carlisle and his car is bone stock. I dont know what year it is though. We always kidded him about steeling his rear until we crawled under there to see if it was a 9"

I've seen lots of Granadas with rear covers, they were never 8.8" rears though. They were the same rear that came in my '70, I think they are called 7 1/4 or 7.5" or something. Not real familiar with them. But I've seen them on mid 70s Granadas so I know at least the ones I saw were not 8.8".

I have a granada 9" under mine......I know that alot had the 8" and some had what ever the heck it was:rolleyes: but I can tell you this the spring hangers are spaced exactly the same as the mav and the rear end is only 1" total wider 1/2" per side. now as for the one in mine I had it narrowed 1 1/2" to get me the clearance I wanted for my slicks

If you just want 5 lugs, then you might just be able to swap axles.
Do you have an 8" now?
If so, just get a pair of 5 lug axles from a Mav and swap them in.

The car is already 5 lig, came with 5 lug with power disc brakes in front, but I sold the car last week so I guess I solved my maverick woes. Let her go for $1500. Too low I think for a 56,000 original mile 2 door V8 car. :(

1983 Bronco's came with the 8.8. It replaced the 9". So it may have been used on other fords.

You cannot put 5 lug 8" Maverick axles into a 4 lug 8" rear end ...the 4 lug set up uses a smaller bearing and the 4 lug housing has smaller axle tube ends.

You `d need to swap out the whole rear axle housing.
