He mounted the battery in the trunk and had trouble starting, so he put a helper battery under the hood...
Wow you would really need to lose the shock towers for this one, and a taller hood, and bigger springs and ...... Get out the tape measure
I agree to a point with TL as well, but the industry was full of "decal packages" that have become worth a lot more money than their plainer counterparts. And the fact of the matter is most people will pay more for a factory performance package of limited production, even if its perfromance in appearence only, like the Grabber. If I am spending Grabber money, I damn well be getting a Grabber.
There has to be a consideration for any type of special performance-even appearance- packages or special edition cars. As more and more interest is focused on Comets & Mavericks, you will see more details on Grabber/GT vs. base model vs. LDO packages. It helps set a scale for the market. I would expect the Grabber/GT packages to always be more valuable, mostly due to rarity and image but also because of that focus on originality. Percentage wise I expect them to appreciate faster. It exists in other collector car circles. It's funny how editions of other cars become notorious and other types of cars get to cash in on that fame. Ex. A 65/66 Mustang that has a 'K' in the VIN number, was originally equipped with the 289 cid 271 HP engine, the most powerful 289 available at the time other than the Shelby version. That engine made the car famous in performance circles. 'K code' Mustangs can sell for 50-100%+ more than standard Mustangs. In 1963-65 Mercury Comets also used a 'K' in the VIN. That only indicated that it had a 289 4V. Those equipped with Hi-Po 289's were not designated any differently-they had removable shock tower braces instead. You would be surprised how many of those Comets pop up on E-bay with sellers touting them as 'Hi-Po K-code' cars. They only built a few of them compared to regualr 4V cars. So, I am glad for details regarding what is a Grabber/GT and what isn't, even if it is only an appearance package. Seth
While you guys talk about the seller's use of the word "Grabber," I'll just sit over here podering how "mostly stock" means "351 cleveland, demon 750 carb, 2 inch headers, D.U.I ignition, 3500 stall and a B&M shifter." If that would have been mostly stock, Ford wouldn't have been able to build them fast enough.
