i was thinking about makeing some grabber hoods out of poly-urea{truck bed liner}.i spray it for a living.im not sure if i should make a mold or just spray the top then put some supports underneath it to help it keep it straight.i was just wondering if any one would be interested in one?im not trying to really sell one just wondering if there would be any interest.i have made some patch panels for my friends old truck and it worked great.just trying to think outside the box.

I am sure if somebody made a decent quality/fit aftermarket grabber hood, and you got a reputation as a good salesperson, it would sell.

that sounds intersting. isnt bed liner flexable?
i would be intrested in seeing how that turns out.
the hood would have to be lighter than a steel hood.
maverickman all ready makes a carbon fiber hood for around $700 that has execpitional quality. so it would need to be priced accordingly.
the fiberglass hoods on the market are pretty poor quality so if your has good fit and finish then you should be able to sell them.
you may also want to try some custom hood designs allso.

its just something i have been messing around with.i have a o/t 67opel kadett i race and am thinking about making a complete body.the one problem with poly is it is flexable but if its thick enough its some tuff stuff, and unlike fiberglass and resen i can wipe down any panel with oil, spray and remove.i could probably make a car in about 1 hour.now if i make a mold all i need is a bunch of pre cut wood, spray part, set wood in and spray is again.just thinking.here are sum pics.of my gasser.

    :naughty:

No... There are "some" Maverick hoods out there. Far from "enough."

But yeah, I see your point. At least they exist.

with only a 92''wheel base its pretty short.after i sold my 72 i got out of racing.i would go to the track once and a while to see what my street cars would do after mods, but nothing serious.then i figured i would build a pure drag car do go to the gasser meets.it has been a wild ride and the new motor {amc 396 stroker}with over 650hp should be pretty stupid.my son cant wait till he can drive his car because he is aloud to enter in the hot-rod class with me.im sure he is going to get the speed bug and try to beat dad,but i dont think that will ever happen.
