Please let me know if anybody would be interested in hinges like these on EBay, but made for us with Mavericks? This could eliminate the dreaded prop rod. I am asking the manufacturer to look into this for us and I am hopeful that he can do it. Go to EBay and look for these beautiful hinges! Show Quality Hood Hinges, 65-66 Mustang, BRUSHED Dave.
Id never taker the chance. Ive seen too many chevy hoods buckle that were supposedly made to have sprung hinges.
I just have flashbacks of when I found a nice hood in a junkyard but it was up on the prop. I let it off the prop to let it down and check out the top....and KINK. The hinges were rusted solid and the weight of the hood took it from there.
I agree! I cud'nt see that cost to eliminate my prop rod. I have a prop rod on my Windstar van also - neither of the cars have been a problem w/ the rod. I suppose if u have a show car it might be justified.
I got rid of my prop rod by adding these struts: http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?p=510773 They'd cost you around $5-20 used(junkyard), or around $45-85 new(on amazon) Been running them for years, the hood seems not affected what so ever no bending, buckling,etc... I really like them a lot, much more convenient.
