Now ballest reseter help

    ok i just went and got a ballest reseter for my 76 maverick 2 door with a 302 1984 motor that was a point disdutor i no that one of the wires go to the pos side of the coil now were would the outher wire go from the ballest reseter its a 2 prong reseter does it go stright to the pos side of the bat when i do this the darn thing gets real hot can evey one out there tell me were the outhere goes thanks for the help:hmmm: still

    One side is 12 volts from the ignition switch, the other side goes to positive side of coil..It should be a somewhat thick wire....Resistors will get hot, might even smoke a little when new till it burns off any crap that's on it...It's normal....You have to find the wire that comes through the firewall that's hot when the key is on and shuts off with the key off...Do this checking with a 12 volt test light....

    The factory wiring already has a resistor wire going to the coil. You do not need a ballast resistor.

    yes when i got the car the wireing was all peaced togeather its like a rats nest ok guys thanks
