So here is the deal. I have a pretty stout little 347 backed by a C4. I just changed one C4 for another freshly rebuilt C4. Both transmissons are full automatic. I did this because the 4500 stall I had in the previous trans was a bit daunting for the street. The new trans has a 2800 stall in it. However, the car now feels like it has 100 less horsepower! Does this seem reasonable based on stall change alone? Here are the specs of the motor.

    347 stroker
    Z cam (2500rpm-6500rpm operating range)
    Afr 205 heads (58 cc chambers) 2.08/1.60
    Scorpion 1.6:1 Roller rockers
    Port Matched Vic Jr intake.
    Holley 750 (Vac Secondairies)
    1 5/8 LT headers
MDS Pro Billet Dizzy w/ mechanical advance
Timing set at 16 degrees initial (all in by 3200rpm @ 35 degrees)
    4.11:1 Rear Locker
    MSD Digital 6al ignition
    Milodon High Volume Water Pump

It just seems like a totally different car. Kind of a drag. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I am sure it "feels" and sounds different...as it should. I would say you have to go off of more than just how it "feels". Maybe some before and after time slips would tell the true story.

Sounds like you had the proper stall in it before for performance use

Jmho it matched your heads, intake and gear ratio

Sounds about right to me. Your 4500 would work great with that motor imo. 2800 not so good. Thats a pretty nasty motor for the street. I might not be as fast as the 4500 but i bet its a ton more street-able. Guess you have to decide which way you want to go.

Can I borrow either of those converters? Whichever one you aren't using?

I will pay for shipping each way.

I would like to try both, if at all possible.

I am trying to figure out what i would like in mine, but would like to try some out first.

I would pay shipping, handling, and "rental" fees, if you charge fairly...

As mentioned above, it sounds like you had the combo pretty well sorted before. You're hooking up well below your torque peak now, so the car is going to feel sluggish. Would need to know more about that cam to say for sure, but looking at the rest I'd say you could probably go to about 3500 and be a bunch happier.
