I have only seen a couple of these cars in and around the Boston area in the past couple of years... the last few parts cars I know about in New England have gone to the crusher. Anybody else have these cars in New England on this forum?? I would love to meet others in my area, and if anybody has any leads on junkyards /partscars in my area I would be grateful.

There was a post on here awhile back from somebody in Boston wanting to get rid of a Maverick. Looked like a parts car to me.

I'm in Maine (Obviously). I know of two other Mavericks within about a 10 mile radius from me. Either I have bad timing or these people are never home. I've stopped by both places to lay out the Maverick Club welcome mat, but no one is ever there... or are they?

Could they be home, hiding behind the curtains and hoping I'll go away as I knock on their doors? I think I look normal enough. Oh man, now I'm getting an inferiority complex! :(

1972 Maverick here in Boston for sale

OK, I spoke with the girl who has the '72 Mav here in Boston. It runs well, but needs front end/brake work. She says $200 takes it. She is the third owner, and has used it as her daily driver for three years. I am going to see it later in the weekend, I really cannot take another car. She said I can buy stuff off it before she junks or donates it. I might end up buying the whole and quickly parting it out, but really prefer not to. Anybody need anything? I would obviously prefer to martyr myself and let somebody buy the whole car if they have the ability to do so, even though I need parts. Otherwise, I am going over there with my toolbox and leaving a trail of (minor) carnage.

I believe this is the car...

I have a bunch more photos of the car, but I have to size them down in order to post them.

I was talking to the owner. I'd like to have it & fix it up, but I really don't need it. It really is too good to part out. I'd hate to see that happen. I'd try to rescue it before that does.

That is my feeling... I certainly do not "need" another one... but I am sickened every time I see a survivor car of this age and relatively decent shape go to the scrapyard. I know this girl is at her wits end selling it, and is ready to dump it... it seems somebody on this forum was nitpicky and told everyone it was a piece of trash. Then, somebody else bought it from her and backed out after buying it because of the brakes. Come on now, $200??? How could anybody complain? I spent $450 for mine in worse shape, and $500 for a load of parts that I havent even seen!! At the very least, it is worth more than that for obsolete parts. I will say this, one of us should buy it. If it is really that awful of a car, we should split the $200 three ways and take what we need from it. I will take the car and put it in my garage here in Boston temporarily if you guys like the idea.

    That may have been me:rolleyes:

I have talked to her on numerous occassions, and she also sent me a bunch of pictures of it. From what I saw and was told.....it is a parts car only.

    Sorry folks...........can't save them all.

Well, lets put it this way.... here in the Northeast, the brutal climate and road salt has decimated these cars, so we have to take what we can get! These are not exactly the kind of cars collectors go across country to bring back east. I was very saddened to see three complete Comets and a pair of Mavericks get crushed at a local Mass. boneyard before I could get parts from them. Scrapyards do not keep old iron long, too little demand for the parts... to great a value to the metal.

'72 four door for sale or parts / 200 straight six

I bought it, and drove it home on the highway. It seems like a very straight solid car that needs cosmetic work. Brakes seem solid but may need an adjustment, but not sure. The car was sitting for a month brakes seemed funny at first but seemed fine by the time I got home. I think there was oxidation on the brake drum that sounded like bad pads at first. The car fired right up and drove me home. Drove and handled great in my opinion. Has all orig paperwork, etc. Records show a complete brake overhaul in 1998, so if there is a brake problem, it cant be that extensive. I would prefer just to flip the car to somebody who wants to use/restore it. I think it would make a fine first car, or daily driver. I have three cars in the city of Boston now, I am one person. It is in my garage, and I need it out soon, so anybody want it or parts from it?
