Wicked cool. Reminds me of the last time we were at the track w/ our previous 331 powered Mav... (My 15yr old son cut a .003 light that night and ran 7.18 in the 1/8th. Now I'm sad again.) Anyway, some fella had a mid 90's Mustang that was just an eye sore to look at but MAN did that thing hook up hard! He carried the wheels about a foot off the ground for half the track. The next run he pushed it even harder (nitrous?) and completely shelled the tranny about 50ft off the line. My point about that story and the pics above is this: Isn't wheels-up actually bad?Of course it looks cool and says a lot about the car and driver. But why aren't these heavy hitters running soft or adjustable shocks with wheelie bars to get the squat and weight transfer benefits without loosing steering control (ala pro-stock cars)? Seems like there would be a solution that could be removed for the street. I'm not questioning anyone's driving or car setup - just curious...???
The car is dead consistant .003 is the most it will vary from pass to pass so I just leave it and run it the way it is cause its a killer bracket car. I took out some top sportman guys with this car in a 5 grander door slammer event this year with it made it to the semi finals before we broke out. I figure why change something when it works so great the way it is car only runs 10.3's. If we do a new motor it will deff get wheelie bars but as for this I tryed everything also to keep it on the ground with out wheelie bars had no sucess.
Yeah, mine does that taking off from every red light. I cannot seem to keep the front end down while I drive through town. Read this. This guy had the same problem as I do... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=11302&highlight=wheelie Sorry, felt like resurrecting that thread as a gift to you guys for Christmas!!!
Not necessarily...take a look at the stock and super stock cars...and that's the optimal way to hook/transfer weight...as it is for most or "our" cars. High-horsepower 4-link cars like Pro Stock lose ET with the nose in the air...but not many of "us" are pushing the horses that they are Just passing along what I've had explained to me before...
That’s strange, I'm running 30's on a mild tune and might pull the wheels an inch and that's with leafs and Cal's. Hey, that hood look familiar, did you pick that up at Cecil Dragway?
no this is a different hood the one I got from you came up to the windsheild did not use that cause I dont have an airpan for it
I might be selling it cause I found a full tube chassis roller that I have been searching for on jacing junk
No point. Just a sorta-humorous, semi-viral thread that got WAY out of hand. Figured I would revive it for the newcomers. It gets reawoken every couple years. He was definitely not someone who could post pictures of his car doing it. So don't take the link as me doubting that yours pulls the wheels.
