I only did floorboards and firewall, but can still tell a big difference in noise and heat.

A quick question for all of those who have used this. Did this replace the original fire wall insulation or did this go under that?

It replaced my firewall insulation...all 25 pieces that fell apart when removing it. My insulation was full of dirt and sand.

I did not do my firewall. My insulation was in gud shape so I stopped after doing the footwells. If I ever do the firewall, I will probably put 2 layers there. I did'nt use P&S brand; I used Fatmat, basically same stuff different name. I was'nt aware of P&S when I bought the Fatmat, it's reasonably priced and im satisfied w/ it. "Have to be" ain't abt to pull it up":)
Anything u put it the way of insulation will make a difference.

Why did u remove the jute? I wud think it wud contribute to noise and heat abatement.

I haven't used it yet in a vehicle, but on the underside of the roof of my metal shed where I used it to seal a small water leak, it hasn't moved one bit and is still stuck firmly after 2 seasons of summer heat.

I can't say why the others are removing theirs, but when I finally get to the sound deadening portion of my build(s) it will be getting replaced because of the jute either coming apart or being used for nesting material for rodents.

I'm also going to be doing the roof, the insides of both the doors, on the inside of the quarter panels (both inside the cabin and in the trunk), and the wheel wells to deaden the road noise as much as possible. If I get real motovated, I'll do the trunk floor too.

As for removal problems, the way I see it is if the vehicle I put the sound deadener in has to go to a body shop and can't be fixed with a stud gun on the outside of the panel to remove the dents, it will either be totalled or the panel in question will be getting replaced anyway.

I do believe the jute backing on the carpet takes years to get to a point where it will fall/come apart. Jute is pretty tuff stuff; it took me some effort to cut thru it when I installed the new carpet. Also, in my area nesting rodents are not an issue w/ cars that are used/driven even on a rare basis.
On the panel issue; If some welding has to be done in the process of the repairs - I cud see the insulation having to be removed in those areas.
Once u stick it to a clean surface - it's there. Period.

    Peel and Seal

Yeh that stuff works well on roofing to keep water out. Butt when installed on trunk and floors make sure there is no leaks. Faulty weather striping, body drain plugs and cowl leaks could cause serious damage to your p-ride.These products can attract and hold moisture. If set on using peel and seal you can get it at a roofing store for less $ than home inprovement store.
