    i6 threw a rod (pics)

Just shove the rods back in and cover with duct tape, right?

I thought I'd dropped the exhaust and was dragging it...until the smoke billowed up in front of me. Amazingly enough, I had to turn it off with the key...it was still running.

The car and/or parts will be on the marketplace shortly

Is it a 250? I just pulled one out yesterday, it ran but not great. It had been sitting for several years so I'm sure the carb is just crapped up. It can be yours very cheap (lunch money cheap) if you want it. It will need an oil pan since it was destine for the scrap yard (had to have a hole in it).

Everyone I've talked to has been quite surprised. Very surprising as I hadn't ever heard any knocking. And yes, it had oil in it :)

It is a 250. I can't believe you're in Kennewick! I'll DM you my info. Do you know if I'd be able to salvage the oil pan and carb from my current engine?

Going 73 on the highway, not even passing, just cruising. Weird as heck.

I don't have the time or $$ for a V8 swap. I do have a 289 in the garage though. Unknown condition. Probably sell both.

Sounds like it. I'd keep the car and drop another power plant in it.

The connecting rod bolts are the weakest chain in the link with the straight sixes & those motors don't like high RPM's (4,000-5,000), I keep both of mine 65mph max on the highway (with c4 3 speed) to keep RPM's down to where I like it.

@ tririte --- If you plan to build another 250 let me know, I have several parts new/used from a 250 I decided not to build.

Should be able to use both, the engine I have is a 72. Wish I would have seen this sooner, I wouldn't have diced the pan open!

That's really strange. Had to of lost oil pressure or something. I've ran the complete p!$$ out of both a 250 and a 200 for several years each, both high mileage motors and neither ever gave me any problems.

I think I'm leaning that way. I don't really want to see a Maverick needlessly hit the scrap heap.
