Wife's engine threw a rod and took out the block.

One of my neighbors has a 302/C4 that he's willing to give to me if I pull it out.

Only issue is that the rear of the car in sunk into the ground, cant acces the driveshaft at all. It did have some room to get in and cut off the transmission crossmember.

But that's as far as I can get, is it possible to just pull out the engine straight forward? will it slide out of the slip yoke I mean.

The whole front end of the car has been chopped off so that's a plus.

Yes, it should slip out and spill ATF all over the ground for you.

    What about the speedo cable?

If it's coming out a Mav cut the floors out if they are good. Then you could save that crossmember AND have some floors to use/sell IF they are any good. Could also cut the shaft and keep that yoke pluged in.. Just a thought..

:biglaugh: And it seems no matter how hard you try to prevent ATF from coming out of an transmission, somehow, it ALWAYS does. I've cleaned up more than my share of ATF and motor oil from the driveway and shop floor.

What about finding someone with a tractor, truck or semi-tractor to yank it out of the ground, so you can effectively do your work?

I had a simiilar scenario, used my cousin's semi-tractor after disconnecting the trailer; you would never have known the car was mired as easy as it came out...

Oh, amen to that brother! I am convinced there is not even a marginally clean way to do anything to a transmission. Every single time I touch one I come out from under the car looking like I was just pumped out of the ground by an oil rig.
