So I bought a 72 Maverick with no motor or trans from a guy and I'm curious is this the 302 model. The vin says its the grabber model. But my real question is how can I tell if it's the 302 model.

Ok so it's a L which is 6cyl 250. How hard would it be to put in a 80-70s model 302 and c4 trans. Cause I have the car and that 302 with the trans.

No one sells a replacement kit, but you should probably expect to pay $250-$400 for a complete kit. Depending on what it contains.

Post a wanted ad in the classifieds, i'm sure several member have V8 swap kit's they'll sell you. If not you can try and find each part at junkyards, ebay, classifieds, etc...

    302 V-8(you already have one)
302 MAVERICK motor mounts (available at any parts store $10-20 each)
302 frame mounts (you can get a new set from critesperformance.com $99, or buy a used set $50-99)
V-8 Engine cross-member(TOPORANGER sells an aftermartket one on here, or buy a used one $20-50)
Double hump transmission cross-member(Buy a used one, no one make a new one $20-60)
V-8 Power steering bracket (only required if you want PS, also it depends on if you're runnign AC or not.)
Longer Power Steering Hoses(Only if you're running PS, available at parts stores)
V-8 Alternator bracket (buy used $5-10)
V-8 Starter (available at any parts store $35-100)
250 I-6 or small block ford V-8 bell-housing (you already have it)
250 I-6 or 302 Maverick radiator (Although I got away with using the 200's radiator)
(Available at parts stores, or better yet get the champion maverick radiator from eBay)
Fan Shroud (not necessary, but unless you are using an electric fan it will be missed)
V-8 Pulleys -Power steering/crankshaft/fan/water pump(The ones you have should work, depending on what fan you want to run. Also it depends on what water pump you have.)
Front sump oil pan (Double or rear - sump pans won’t work without frame modifications)(available at any parts store $50-100)
    V-8 throttle cable (optional)
V-8 wiring harness ( or just build one)
V-8 kickdown linkage(buy used $10-30, or get an aftermarket Lokar one)

You will also have to get exhaust of some sort, headers or factory that will fit a Maverick

I have a question about the double hump crossmembers. Maverick factory part or swiped from another ford? my v8 has a single hump factory as far as I know?

Double hump tranny crossmember is original on a v8 Maverick

It depends on how far you want to go with it depending on what you have already that will work

Exhaust and radiator, which your radiator should work, motor mounts maverick75 pretty much hit it on the head with his post, the parts I have will make it so you can put the motor in and the rest is upto you.

I do have the exhaust manifolds but would recommend going with a set of Hooker 6901 headers, they fit nice the only issue with them is if you have a column shifter the linkage does not work, also depending on whay year 302 you have it may not have the hole in block for automatic linkage to bolt to.

Most of these engine swaps require some kind of creative work to make ends meet
