Found a sweet 74 Comet GT on craigslist. Guy says he's owned it since 1976, was his wifes car. I'm totally buying it. This sadly means I have to figure out what to do with my '72. Iits been parked for the last year because the drum brakes gave up the ghost, and the carb stopped working right, and other annoying crud. I had to tow it because I couldnt get it to start, had spark, turned over but I think the bowls dried out.

So if I don't need any sheet metal off it for the GT (although I'm probably pullin the small bumpers...) I'm thinking it's got to go.

So what do people think sell it whole, part it out, or take it to the scap yard?

I also just can't believe my luck on the Comet GT find. So excited to be buying a survivor GT. Only thing the guy said he's done is tear off the vinyl and repaint the roof when it got too ratty; and he kept part of it so it could be matched for restoration.

If it's the 74 Comet GT, in the Tacoma area, he's had it on Craigslist for months. I've been waiting for him to come down on the price. But, he wasn't dropping... Good luck..

Well, It's gonna be at least a week until I even drive out and look at it. But, I already know I'm buying it. It's just a matter of waiting for the money to be available on my end right now.

It is Coop. And if I had one as sweet as your already I'd wait for the price to drop too. But, I've got a non-running pain in my heart car right now. You think it's not worth the price?

Thanks for the comments on my car. I bought mine in 1999, and guess I'm stuck on what I gave for the car at that time. I understand 13 years later the car would be worth more. I do like the orange interior. Nice looking car & it has been garaged. I'm sure it's worth every penny. Give me a call when you get up here. Would like to get together. If it's not raining, might get mine out for a drive. Let me know... I know the feeling of a non-running car. Still working on the 302, for my 70 Grabber. Can't wait to drop it in & fire it up...

Yea I have a feeling the 302 in my Bronco Is gonna wind up being built to go into a Comet after all.

I'll let you know when I'm up there for sure. I'll finally have a car worth showing to other people. Never got the old one to the point of fixing body damage.

Oh coop did you see that 72 grabber and 75 mav for sale near spokane? I was *this* close to calling that guy when I saw the comet. But the last thing I needed was 3 cars that don't drive. I'm already running out of relative's driveways to stuff cars into.

Yes, I'd seriously considered this one previously. I would purchase it and do a merge of Comets; not keen on the orange interior and mine has a much better one...

Yea, I have black interior but most of its not in a good state. I might see what can be salvaged and consider staining the rest. Then again it might grow on me.

that was at the orange interior comment.
