We just picked up a 71 Grabber, from what I've been reading they all came w/the deluxe steering wheel. Now did they come w/the deluxe door panels as well or were they optional on the Grabber?
They did not all come with a deluxe steering wheel....or door panels for that matter, in 1971. It was an option on all Mavericks in 1971.
I ordered a Maverick Grabber new in 1974. They did not come with deluxe interior. I ordered the high back bucket seats/floor shift. The deluxe door panels came with the bucket seats as well as better carpet. The deluxe steering wheel was another option. The Grabber I have now has deluxe interior with a bench seat and deluxe steering wheel and it is also a '74. I don't think you could get the deluxe door panels with standard interior but maybe you could get the deluxe steering wheel with any interior option. Also it differed form year to year as the made the interior much nicer.
If you ordered the Interior Decor Group you got the deluxe wheel/door panels also. At least on the 73 up.
Now from what my buddy is telling me, the door panels have a Maverick steer round emblem & it is in this long circular section that has perforated material on it. But the doors have been replaced from a different Maverick. Are these deluxe door panels, not sure what they look like? Also the steering wheel is missing the horn switch, just an empty black pad. I think we'll just order a Marti report & really be sure.
