Nothing wrong with either motor just depends on what you wanted swapping drivetrains, suspnsions, turbo's etc is what i enjoy doing theres always a way to fit stuff where it doesnt belong
I have welded small blocks in alotta different cars. Amc's and dodges. never a rear steer ford. Even installed my 469 olds in a rear steer 67 pontiac grand prix but that was almost a direct bolt up. No headers for this application or room to build any, couldnt even get the stock manifolds on it without grinding the manifold and steering box, knowing the engine would not perform with the manifolds there was again no option had to change plans there too. I didnt want to run into the same problems with the chevy in the maverick. plus this was before I knew about notching the shock towers. I wasnt too scared of the oil pan issues because I could have made my own front sump pan. and made a pick up as well. or altered existing ones is more like it. but just ended up going this route. and just to clarify this windsor swapp is not easy either, but Im enjoying it.
this is what that looked like looks like there is room in this pic but there wasnt any on the drivers side because the steering box was about an inch from the block
No gm swap for me. I do have a family friend in az who has a mag with an outrageous gm500 crate motor. I know no details though. Just that its one nasty evil monster. I do plan on putting a larger straight 6 and stroking it though. Maybe even a turbo set up of some sort just for fun.
