Correct, but why the hell would you waste time and money squeezing a modified 351 into a Maverick, if you weren't looking for power?

He could soup up a 302 and have 365 hp for WAY less money and effort.

So, I am assuming he wants power. I wouldn't settle for anything less than 450-ish out of a 351. If I only wanted 365, I would stick with my 302.

So, help us with our "argument"...

Do you want a powerplant, or not?

Yes... And if you do, you need to be prepared to address the headers. They are the biggest hurdle in a 351w swap. If you use the G9031's, the only headers currently made that are known to fit with stock suspension (and even that requires work) then you need to accept that your exhaust won't be ideal and you're leaving upper end power on the table. If you want big HP you need to go another route on those headers and it won't be cheap. Either you'll need fully custom headers, or you'll need to snatch out the stock suspension and go Mustang II, AJE, etc. Then you can run whatever headers you want. Eventually that's what I plan to do, but that's years and another engine away.

A similarly built 347 stroker will walk all over a 351w all day long. I thought he already had the bottom end built and in the car.

    :thumbs2: I agree 100%

All I have to do is listen to my buddy's who drag race and hear the $$$ they sink into their engines and yet they aren't the baddest rides at the strip.

...there will always be someone faster then you, so I myself build for driveability, reliability, and fun. :)

Shadowmaster. You should know your facts before you square off with somebody buddy! The 347 WILL smoke a 351, FACT! I'm not talking about a 408 or 427 stroker, I said "similarly built". The fact is: the 351 has heavier crank to spin, heavier(longer) connecting rods, heavier pistons(due to more compression height), longer intake runners because the engine is wider, and because of all these facts the whole engine is also heavier which puts more weight on the front of the car and more weight to accelerate down the track or street. Care to reply to this with facts instead of insults?

Sorry classic. I won't respond again to him. I just hate it when people spread wrong information. Your build should be just fine for what your intended purpose is. I wasn't knocking your 351 build. Is you bottom end of the 351 finished? What pistons are you using?
