They've been selling those kits for awhile, But I don't know of anyone that's using one.

I've got one of their front disk kits on my 64 Galaxie.

The parts fit right out of the box, and the required rotors/calipers fit right on.

I can get it done. My main question would be whats the outer flange and pilot snout?

Following that would be which of those kits is most likely to fit with my '74 5 lug drums.

Yea boss I can actually read pretty good. Btw, the link you posted doesn't work. Think you copy and pasted wrong.

So while were on the subject.

What's the best front disc conversion kit to buy between cost and performance. I'm trying to get a feel for a budget on this.

The thing that jumps out at me about that is they are adapting a 10 inch rotor with this kit.

Later Mavs and Granadas, etc, were available with 11 inch rotors. I would think that extra inch of rotor would be a tremendous advantage in leverage, and it still fits inside old-school wheels if that is a concern. Gets a little tight on 14 inch wheels 7 inches wide ... fine with any 15s.

Personally, the factory Mav rotors that I have run across have been 11s. I have seen mention of 10s also, and am thinking they might have come on Mavs with the smaller sixes. A pretty good tech article on a Mustang site hints at that, so it may be something to watch for.

If you stick with Mav/Granada pieces, you swap the whole spindle and get tie rod ends to match them, and you are fine. Easy to get rotors and calipers from a local parts store.

The only concern I would have is that these are only 10" rotors and usually this size of rotor is meant for a vehicle in the 2500lb range. Also, how many pistons does the caliper have?
I am using 10.25" rotors on my Maverick, but it is a drag race only car and the Calipers have 4 pistons...............and I will have discs in the rear also.
There are only a couple of companies that make "bolt on" disc brake kits for the front, Wilwood, Aerospace Components, and the company in the vendor section of this site (he uses new Granada components) but there may be more. With the Wilwood and Aerospace kits you really have to watch the room you have in your wheels as the caliper could have a fit problem.........................and will not work on 14" wheels.
    IMHO

MS - check post #6 in this thread. It is the full size disc kit I really recommend to someone without a source for donor spindles. It is a bit more money, but take a look at the picture in that post and see all the parts you get in one package. No need to do any machining work or chase around to round up all the parts to make those 10" work.

Start to finish in a couple hours work with this kit. Having all the parts in one kit is worth the extra money in my book.

Since that price is for only those brackets, I would try and find a Granada to get everything off of for about the same money! :)
