hey everyone I have 250 nad I was wondering is it possible to do an efi conversion for easy driving and a future turbo? Or do I need the 302 for that?
There's been people who have converted it using a tempo equipment and megasquirt, but it is not cheap. If you're going turbo I'd invest in a classicinline head they also have fuel injection packages for their head. Again it's not cheap. With a 302 you can literally get the FI stuff at any junkyard including the computer stuff.
So for the price I may as well just grab a 302 and rebuild it and when money becomes available just turbo it.
Pretty much what I'm doing on the Falcon, today I actually found the frame V8 mounts. had the 200ci for a while and was thinking about upgrading it but it just cost way too much for the power you end up with. If your planning 500HP or less the 302 will be plenty strong and cheap compared to making 500 on a 6 cylinder. If you want more go to the dark side with Bryant Or aftermarket 302 block will serve you well for 500+ But really who needs more than five hundred horses in a light car
Yeah I'm looking for around 350 to 400 nothing crazy just some get up and go. I wanna take her an autocross her and cruise her. And yeah an lsx. Are you going to fund that option? What's the current price tag on that one..
build a 302, put in a 4 speed top loader or t5, low profile/wide tires, independent rear suspension, disc brakes front and rear, and some stout sway bars front and back, and leave just a seat for the driver

There's plenty of room in our cars for a turbo, with a 6 you can even have a topmount with the turbo on the drivers side. For a V8 you have enough room to run a 80mm-100mm if you remove the battery and route the exhaust pipe in the fender area(thanks to the springs being inward). With a single 80mm you can make enough power to twist the subframes
This is how i'd route the exhaust if I ever go turbo. There's enough room to bring the pipe back under the firewall and go duals from there back. I think you could fit up to a single 4" which should be good for a ton of power. But you can also split it out to dual 3" from the crossmember bak. I think Tony fit a 5", but he has his exiting at the rear of the fender.
This is Tony's setup, if you're worried about the heat you can run a small 3" pipe which will still easily support 600HP.
Oh wow thanks for all the info. I think I may have to put my plans on hold. I'm still welding up my rusty roof and fixing floor pans....but my wifes 2000 expedition just threw up cel before inspections. P1131 and p1132. It reads ho2s indicates lean and other indicates rich. Its not the o2 sensor cause someone had same issue and replaced to no fix. I cleaned a maf. Sorry for the off topic rant I'm just pissed I gotta hault gotta get the baby mobile fixed first
you can get a lqx motor out of a truck for under a grand. a guy i know has gotten a few for 400. these motors can easily support over 700hp. they make over 400hp with a cam swap.
I guess i could check the bone yards around for one.... wht is necessary, harness, computer, tranny, engine? missing anything. Im guessing i would just have to than supply the rest of the stuff for the EFI. I have a bone yard that i can call and they pick it for you free, well mostly free, which vehicles should i look for? i did some research but cme up moslty people selling lsx... sory my A key is missing and its hard to hit it..
