my experience with mail order roll bars is the shipping is the most expensive part. usually the hoop is the only thing that is bent and then you just get a bunch of straight bars that you will have to cut and notch to fit. i find local chassie shops will bend up a custom fit cage for you out of better material for less cost.
I ordered the one from Jeg's, still haven't put it in. Comes with hoop, plates for floor pan, and 3 bars. 2 of them are notched to fit the hoop and one for the crossover. Hope to install before summer when I redo the interior.
I only use roll bar kits from S&W Race cars. I have installed 3 of these and they fit perfectly. The 8 point cages are all cut and ready to weld in.
I bought a Jeg's kit for a Fox Mustang. The hoop fit well after cutting about 10 inches off of each leg. All the other tubes were straight cut. Spent alot of time cutting and notching all of them to fit.
I just figured Jegs are pretty cheap, and we always go there while in Columbus, I'll wait and buy a better one. Thanks!
Hmmmm, maybe it could wait till I'm in Clearwater again next year.. You know, it's your fault I want a roll bar...
Lakewood roll bar ANYONE REMEMBER THE LAKEWOOD BOLT IN ROLL BARS. I HAVE AN ORIGINAL AND IF YOU ARE NOT A NHRA RACER THEN THE NEW STYLE WITH DOOR BARS AND SUCH ARE JUST ADDED WEIGHT AND IN THE WAY.I AM TAKING MY LAKEWOOD TO THE MUFFLER SHOP AND GET SOME PRICES ON STAINLESS STEEL or MILD STEEL DUPLICATES. THE ORIGINALS WERE ALL PAINTED RED. THEY CAN BEND THE MAIN PIPE LIKE A HORSESHOE SHAPE AND THE 3RD BAR IS A STRAIGHT SLIDE IN. YOU WELD 3 FLAT PLATES WHERE THEY BOLT THROUGH YOUR FLOOR. THE REAL BIG ROLL CAGES WERE MORE NASCAR THAN DRAG RACING UNTIL THE 1970S RULES REQUIREMENTS.
Don't go and blame me..... The main hoop in the ART kits fit really well thanks to a local chassis shop getting the correct dimensions for proper fit.....
