One from napa and the others from autozone. My volt meter has 5 settings for the resistance. What one would I use?
I get no reading on F. I just changed out to another regulator also. Am I doin something wrong. I unplugged the harness touch read to the prong and black to negative on battery.
That should work. You can make sure your meter is working when checking for resistance by touching the two meter wires together. You should get almost or exactly 0. Is the regulator you switched out to in working condition?
Don't worry about it. You will figure it out. See if you can get your hands on a known good voltage regulator (that is correct for the alternator you are using). See if that fixes or atleast changes your problem. I'm off to bed, early day tomorrow. Send me a PM and we can work on this more tomorrow.
