cool pics!! What i love about old drag racing pics is the background.Check out the period perfect 68/69 Nova in the Dyno Don shot
Really cool old photo's, thanks for sharing...........certainly brings back some great memories of good days from the past! The last car/project looks like a more recent shot, do you have any history on this car? Here are a couple more that have been on computer for awhile.........except the last one..............
That last pic is an old Maverick race car believed to have connections to Gapp & Roush. Possibly built by an employee back in the early 70s. My dad was building a Maverick drag car in early 70...all we have left is the hood scoop as used on the drag Mavericks and the Boss 302. It would be cool to have a car worthy of that scoop and the Boss one day.
Very cool information. I love old drag car history, it's just too bad most of the original drag Mavericks are commanding such high prices. Mine dates back to the B/SM wars back in the late 70's and early 70's. If you ever want to sell the hood/scoop let me know.
Yes, it was campaigned by the owner/builder, Greg Nichols form 79/81. I am the third owner after Greg (I have talked with Greg over the phone and someday hope to meet him) although the car has changed drive trains, the chassis is basically the same as it was in 79. Here is a picture of it today......I've been working on the front end; disc brakes, Global West strut rod/lower control arms.........the refreshened 408 is almost ready to put on the dyno and the powerglide is totally finished. I still have one of the original Liberty built top loaders that the car had in 79.
I love liberty trans. Had one in a maverick before. Only needed the clutch to take off and stop. Had an inline shifter. Real fun to play
Thanks much man, great pics . I would like to know more about the rare and expensive Spyder wheels on the third picture ,the fast eddie, yellow car. Those are mopar wheels!
