I have a Carter carburetor leaking after a rebuild. It leaks in the center where the lower bowl attatches to the rest of the carburetor (not sure what to call it). I believe the rubber O-ring might be the cause of it. My only problem is I can not find a shop to sell me a replacement ring anywhere. This area never leaked until after the Carburetor was rebuilt. Any advice is helpful.
The needle and float are working properly. Where can I purchase the rubber ring that sits between the leaking area.
It still leaks after checking the needle, seat and float adjustment which are all working properly. Do you know where I can find the right size rubber ring that goes between the gasket on the carburetor?
That was supposed to be in your overhaul kit! I'd go back to where you bought it and let them know the " O " ring was missing. They should give you one from another kit!
auto supply stores and o-rings don't mix well. If they won't help find a local hydraulics supply shop and take the o-ring in. I bet they could find something that would work. I replaced a couple o-rings and flat washers that way after going to 6 different parts stores and 2 garages. The guy at the second garage told me every time he has to replace 1 of the ones I was looking for he has to talk his customer into buying a new 80 dollar slave cylinder. I found the parts at my local Grangers.
