i need help. i have a 73 mav with a 302/c4. it i just got done putting the trans in and after i ran it for a bit and checked the fluid it was light pink and a lil foamy. im running an external cooler so i know its not from the rad. i happened to look up the b&m torque converter i bought from a friend who never used it and it said it is for a case fill c4 and mine is a pan fill. it sat in all 3 clicks and its pumping fluid. could it cause this? or could it be the trans got some water in it while it was out of the car for a month or 2? im stumped. im gona try flushing the trans out tommorow.

Are you checking it hot? Mine acted up when it was just a quarter inch or so over full when cold. Now I run it a little below full when hot. Was surprising how little fluid it took to go from just below full to over full.

Do you think you've run it long enough to get all the air out of the lines and cooler? Is your cooler installed so the fluid goes in the bottom and out the top so air is easily eliminated?

I also switched from store brand Type F to Valvoline from Amazon at a reasonable price for a case with free shipping. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Valvoline-Automatic-Transmission-Twelve-Bottles/dp/B000CQ6L46/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332341058&sr=8-2"]Amazon.com: Valvoline VV341 Automatic Transmission Fluid Type F, Pack of Twelve 1 Quart Bottles: Automotive[/ame] I think the store brand has less anti-foaming characteristics.

Link for Type F was wrong in my earlier post. Fixed now. The picture in the Amazon link shows DEX/MERC but I bought it twice and got Type F. Hope they just have the wrong picture.

Sounds like a plan. That's what I'd do if the C4 went South. Will you change the rear end for a higher ratio?
