Nope run it make sure oil pressure is ok.I personally like to change the oil shortly after initial run.

thats what i was thinking i just wanted to make sure the last thing i want to happen is i fry a new crank. my plan is to pull all the plugs and crank it over for a minute or so just to make sure i have oil into all the passages before i start it up.

You can also prime it from the distributor hole with a priming tool(or socket, just don't drop it) but if that isn't practical, what you're planning should be fine.

Everyone has given you great advise.
I would take the plugs out, take the coil wire off, then spin the motor with the starter until I get oil pressure.................personally I like to lessen any load on new bearings at least until they have oil flowing............I am assuming you put some type of pre-lube on the new bearings before you button'd everything up.................................then put everything back together are take a drive.

i did it on a stand a few weeks back i did some exploritory surgury to identify anything that was wrong and it took me around 8 hours to drop the pan, check everything, and replace the oil pump. there was deffinatly not enouph room to do it in the car(i'm glad i didn't even try to attempt that). yeah everything is back together and it runs great. still need to adjust my timing and tweek the carb a little to dial it in but i'm very happy.
