I'm getting geared up to restore my Mom's first car, a 70 maverick grabber. Used to be quite the enthusiast when i was a kid, but my work has prevented me from doing too much wrenching over the past few years.. I had rebuilt the motor when it was in high school and drove it for a bit, but then left for college and it has sat in her driveway now for 18 or so years. Most of the body is straight, but a neighborhood kid knocked out a window a few years ago so the interior is gonna need some serious attention... A buddy of mine (I won't get into why) tore apart the steering column recently and lost the Ignition Rod Actuator Switch. I've already got on the classifieds and have started to look for that. Once that's figured out and I've got her started up, that's when I'll be really digging in... Getting lots of inspiration from this forum and can't wait to show some pictures of my own! Anyways, that's my story... Former gear head, getting back in the game... Any of y'all from central Texas wanna hit me up with your favorite parts sources, that'd be great... Otherwise, look forward to talking shop with all y'all...
Welcome from Texas, near Dallas. Doug is in Austin. His name on this site is "DAB". He may have the part for you. He also goes by TexasGrabber. See http://www.texasgrabber.com/ Let me know if I can help. I do have tons of parts from about 15 cars. Rick
I am origionally from Austin. I was born at Bergstrom AFB in 65. Gotta get down there this year and go swimming at Barton Springs! We had been having a meet in the Waco area for sometime. This year it's happening just North of Dallas in Carrollton/Farmers Branch area. It's right off of 35 about 1/4 mile so it's very easy to find. Come up and join us if you can. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=84059&highlight=Texas+mini+meet
Yeah, I grew up over by Bergstrom and went to Del Valle. Those places may be gone, but, at least Barton Springs is still cold Won't be able to make the meet in may, but hopefully I'll be free to make the one in Katy. Thanks for the heads up!
