Yes just need to remove belly bar and drop steering from idler and passenger spindle and swing it over to the side to make it easier then it's a breeze
I did mine by removing the belly bar and the idler arm taken loose. Didn't remove any tie rod ends. But, I didn't need to do much work on the engine. Just retrieving a socket that went down the distributor hole.
well the motor was originally in a 79 stang i had. and it held great pressure. now a few days after i got it put in my mav it starts losing oil pressure. no knocking or anything. just losing pressure. it drops below 20 at idle. and the main and rod bearings looked great before i put it in the mav. if youve got any ideas as to cause please tell me.
Could be cam bearings, I had a 302 that would drop down to almost zero while sitting at a light, the machine shop told me it was a bad cam bearing.
X2 My 73 Mav did the same thing, center cam bearing rolled right out of the journal in pieces. No noise, no running problems, just low oil pressure at idle. The rest of engine was immaculate.
as i think over what you have said about loosing your oil pressure, im thinking that the pump is coming loose from the block or the pick up tube is loose from the pump. sense the motor came out of a 79 mustang you would have to had changed the oil pan and pick up. if you did nothing else then these are the highest odds that i see causing your problem.
yea. thats one of the reasons i wana pull the pan. but ive also just bought a 302 aod combo out of an 85 ltd. got it for 150. the car only had 87000 on it. ander the valve covers is clean as a whistle and the trans fluid looks semifresh and is clean. thinkin bout just droppin that in. my old c4 is startin to show its age.
