rough acceleration 250 c.i six

    hey guys, just got a new carb for the 250 and fixed all the vacume and exhaust leaks.. however, when i go to accelerate the car hesitates for a second and then clears out and speeds up. i adjusted the carb and it idles smooth.. any help???:huh:

    as mentioned check the points.

    then set the car in park, get your idle right and pull the throttle wide open quickly, there should be no hesitation. you may need to fiddle with the mixture screw and idle screw to get just right.

    thirdly, if you bought the carburetor from a place like autozone or o rielly then chances are the float needs raised. most of the time for some reason the floats are set lower then factory settings and the car will stumble on turns and on harder launches.

    Just because it's new doesn't mean it's perfect. It has to be calibrated, it's not just bolt on and go.

    If you have a Carter RBS this is how you adjust it:

    look up HOT SPARK it replaces the points and i think it worth every penny i send
