They have jets and rods. Used to be charts available that let you calculate fuel flow at idle, cruise, and power based on the jet/rod combination you used. At the time I was told not all Q-jets used the same jets, something about the carb's internal passages were drilled at different approach angles to the jets. I went to a local Chevy dealer to get jets for my Buick carb and they explained to me the differences and had to order jets for the Buick piece. Always wondered if they were blowing smoke just so they could charge me more $$$.

This is your opinion. My opinion is they ARE scrap yard material. And the reason why Holley still makes their spreadbore replacement carb.

18 years ago or so I was into rebuilding these and I did the epoxy and stakeing. I even had a Snap On master rebuild kit that had a "D" wrench and feet and such. Most problems were the worn out shafts. I always thought they were decent carbs though. Then they added the electronic parts.. I prefer mechanical OR FI. Either one but not inbetween lol. I could probobly rebuild another but it has been a looong time. Too many puff puffs since.

Fact is, most guys have problems with Holleys that turn out to be ignition related. And most have problems rebuilding such a simple carb like a Holley. Just based on these simple facts, a Quadrajunk carb is something they should avoid like the plague. You can have my share of Quadra junk carbs left out there in circulation if it'll make you a happier person. :biglaugh:

Gee, you sure do like to state opinion as fact don't you ? The only reason a Holley will flood is when there's too much fuel pressure, or there's dirty fuel being fed to the carb, thereby allowing trash to get caught in the needle/seat. Anyone who experiences this, is just plain not up to snuff on their carbs and deserves it happening to them at the most inopportune moments. Holleys are relatively simple to rebuild, but most newby's to them do not read the instructions, nor pay attention to detail when cleaning one or assembling them. Now based on these FACTS, you're going to sit there and claim something as complicated as a Quadrajet is a better carb for them to use over a Holley ? :biglaugh:You sir are in denial.:naughty: Just the fact that Holley's are still in production and have been copied widely over the past 20 years is proof enough that it's a superior carb over a Quadrajet. The only Q-jets still available are rebuilds, they have not been in production for at least 2 decades. As for your opinion that I'm not a nice person, that too is just your opinion, I could care less about it :thumbs2:
