Is there a way to get the ignition key lock out without having a key? I dont know about Maverick's, but I changed the ignition lock on a Malibu before, and needed a key to turn the lock before it could removed. Can someone tell me what to do.

start trying every ford key you can get your hands on. i have found that there are not that many different keys. then when thing wear out the keys will work. i have a small collection of ford keys from past cars ive had and usually can find one to work when needed. a lock smith should have a ring of ford keys that he can try then cut you a new key. that is usually an affordable option

Yeah I tried the keys (all four differnt sets) no luck there. It looks like I'll have to call the local locksmith guy. Man I hate spending money because I've done something stupid. Thanks.

Since the door and ignition have the same key, if the doors are unlocked, you can pull the door lock cylinder, take it to the locksmith and have a key made. I've done this a time or two.

I know that my cylinder pulls straight out.. Not sure if that's what it's designed to do but it does. It's not easy but seems to be easier than it ought to be.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Mine needed to be in a certain position to take out(there's a pin you need to press), unfortunately the previous owner(my dad) had busted up the whole thing.(thanks dad! :D)

Which was sorta good because all I needed was to use a screwdriver to change the position, but it left a ton of body work do be done on the collar :(

If you have a locking glove box, that cylinder can be taken to a locksmith and a trunk key made from it. Worst scenario, remove back seat and crawl into trunk with screwdriver to open trunk. The key can be made from this cylinder also. I feel for you! I've been there before, just not with the Maverick! I made 3 sets of keys for it from the get go! :)
