ok, so I have the 200 I6 mated to a stock C4 thats turning a 1970 1 piece rearend with 7 1/4 2.83 ring gear.... My issue is the freeway, how can i adjust or what is best recommended to reduce cruising rpms on the freeway @ 65-75mph cause it sounds like im trying to race people and im only doing 55-60
I have no Tach so not sure of actual rpms but their up their lol
    Any thoughts...?

    whats your tire diameter?

get a taller tire if you're worried about RPMs, or better yet get a tach so you dont have to guess :D

I know it may be obvious, but are you sure you are hitting 3rd gear? I run my 6 banger with a 3:00 rear at 70mph and do not think it is winding out at all. P195/75/14 tire.

To early in the morning for math for me :hmmm:

Not sure what tire size your using, but I have the same set up for motor, transmission, and even rear end. No tach... and don't have issues with getting on the freeway with it sounding like I am trying to race anyone.

And yes my exhaust has rotted off... so I have that sound right now.
Tomorrow dropping it off for a custom exhaust from manifold back to the tail pipe $220 bucks...still can't believe that price :16suspect

You make a good point here, perhaps I was in the 2nd gear position, only made it on the freeway once cause I was scared to try it again lol.

I have seen it before. Pointer on the column isn't set correctly with the shifter linkage so you think you are in drive but are actually in second - OR - a kick down linkage that was to aggressive at forcing a second gear due to increased throttle demands of freeway speeds.

    Worth checking out ........ :bouncy:
