floor shifter

    i was wanting to put a floor shifter in my 70 mav. and wanted to know if its gonna work with the small trans. tunnel or am i gonna have to upgrade it to a large tunnel.

    i used a c4 and a z-gate in my 70 (y)
    weld 4 studs (7/16's bolts) to the hump :yahoo:

    i have a 302/c4. i also have a mav./mustang floor shifter will that work?

    Lokar has one that is adjustable but it a costly thing. #ATS60C4DM, theres a reverse lock out but no reverse light switch. Auto Crafters sell some that will work Summit has some ase well:huh:

    Use a Mustang or Pinto shifter. The bezel and shifter are smaller, and fit the tunnel better than the Maverick shifter.

    I will add that you will want to get a floor-shift specific shift rod (the part that runs internally in the tranny) for your C4, if using a factory-style shifter. Merely flopping that rod 180 degrees will give you problems because the factory shifter geometry is different from column to floor, column shifter probably has a bit less travel.

    Aftermarket cable shifter would not have that issue. Also, early Fox body Mustangs had a factory cable shifter that looks pretty original. Others here have reported luck with that.
