91 mustang motor in maverick hooker headers hiting on driver side

    just swapped a 91 mustang 302 motor and trans into my maverick and i got hooker headers for the 302 grabber motor there 6901 or 9601 part number from jegs does anybody know if iam going to have a issue on the driver side clearing

    Measure the space you have available and compare it to the specs of the headers. Its the only advice that I can give you without trying the fit and seeing hands on.

    Although I am not one of them, there are plenty of people using 6901 headers. Do a search for them.

    I have them on my car. Several people have reported fitment issues. Most common is the pitman arm hitting a tube limiting the turning radius.

    Will need a drop bracket if you're running power steering, but 6901's do fit. Far as I can tell they seem to be the most commonly used headers on this forum.

    ok cool yea not runing power steering so ill take a shot at it toinght the passanger side was fine so ill see how tight fit driver side is going to be

    From all the threads ive seen 6901 fits the best.

    Running 6901 hookers. They just barely touch the steering box and the pitman arm hits at full lock. Other than that they fit well.

    ok cool thanks whats the difficutly level on puting those hooker headers on the driver side while motor is in the car

    jack up the driver's side of the engine an inch or two. helps getting the header in.

    Like Tody said. You need to jackup the drivers side of the motor a couple of inches. Pull the motor mount bolt out. I also loosen the passenger side bolt a little. Also have the car jacked up as high as you safely can.:)

    I'm one of the guys that had to redo one of my primary tubes that the pitman arm hit.:mad:

    soo thats it just remove sparkplugs and motor mount bolt and jack up the engine? hmmm i must have been doing somthing wrong cause i couldnt get the ds to fit:huh:
