Wont run at high speeds

    Driving the maverick the other day and it drove just fine till I went to get on the expressway and then it started sputtering and losing power and eventually died. I could pull of the road and start it back up go a little further and then it would do it again... any ideals what could cause this?

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Fuel delivery
    Bad coil
    bad points condensor (not likely) since they usually just plain flat out fail...No warning
    bad electrical connection...

    Sounds like a fuel filter to me also.

    hopefully its just the filter I'll replace it tomorrow and give it a try! thanks
