owned 2 chevys that both needed work... I traded them for fords...

I have a ford van, 5 pickups, maverick, 67 cougar, 5.0 stang, and an explorer.

However I like suzuki stuff for off roading (light weight/cheap). I just sold 2 sidekicks today but i still have a sidekick, a sidekick buggy and 2 samurais.

I've owned a few GM products, all trucks, and the main reason was I got them cheap. I've always kept at least one Ford in the laneway, now 100% Ford around here, and none where built with my tax dollars.

I ws raised in Ford's, but Dad did have a 71 Chevy pickup. After I got out on my own, I went rebellious and would only buy GM products. Two Pontiac's, a Grand Am and a Sunbird, both bought new, and two used S 10's soured me on GM's. I went back to a Ford pickup, which I kept for 17 years, and Chrysler minivans. When we got out of the minvan stage, it was a Tbird, then an Explorer, and then a PT Cruiser. I found out what the PT was for, they left out the letters in between- Piece of $**T cruiser. What a load of crapola it was. When it left, it was replaced by a Fox Body Mustang convertable. That was replaced with a Jeep Grand Cherokee which has been a great ride. The old 84 F150 was replaced with a 99 F150XLT Super Cab.

Only GM product that I've owned since the late 80's is the two Vettes, the 84 we bought and sold last year and the 86 we have now. The Vette is a car all unto itself, not much to compare it too. Only GM product that I always wanted, but couldn't afford until now, and had to buy one that old to be able to afford it now. I guess I'm kinda like Hawko, bilingual, no make that trilingual since I now own two Ford's, a Chevy, a Jeep, and an old Dodge!

Like I said in my previous post, A good mechanic can build anything and it will stay together. And, they have all built the good the bad and the ugly.

When I was young I owned Chevy's, because they were cheap and you could go to the "drug store" and buy speed parts..................then migrated over to Ford's and everyone that knew me before would ask WHY, and my answer was because Chevy's are like belly buttons, everyone has one. Now, with that said I like 67/68 Camaro's and always will since I raced one and restored a 68 Z28. Also like early Mustangs and big Galaxie's 61/64. The reason I bought the Maverick is that was a drag car and looked decent....and went kind of fast.
    So, over my short 51 years of owning cars I've had 8 Chevy's, 9 Ford's, 1 Pontiac, 2 Dodge's, 1 Buick and 3 Toyota's............and have enjoyed them all.

The ONLY pickup I will ever own and drive on a regular basis is the F series. I've owned a '77 F-100 since I was 15 and just don't care for the other brands (and YES I have driven ALL of them from Chevys to Toyotas).

With that said, I will only own a GM Full Size Van because of the driver's and passenger's leg room.

As far as cars go, if it's from the Muscle Car era I like it! I like a few, but not many, imports and almost none of the new "Retro" cars (or anything new for that matter).

True story. Mom is in the market for a new car since her Caddy is getting old and let's face it, the gas mileage stinks on it. I took her to a dealer's lot in my old Crown Vic and the Salesdroid asked what he could do to get me out of my old car and into a new one.

    My reply?

Design a car that has a decent ride, has enough power to get out of it's own way while getting good gas mileage, doesn't look like a rolling egg or have an apperance like everything else on the road, and will last as long as my OLD car with only basic maintainence needing done!

He didn't have reply to that. :rofl2:
