Out for a ride, had a very serious offer of $10,000.00 for my Grabber tonight and told the guy no......not 30 minutes later on the way back towards home, a female (for lack of other words I can't use here) in a 1997 Chevrolet Impala turned right into my door barely hit the fender but took the door and pillar out big time, I was doing 45 and wound up sliding 150 feet or so sideways across three lanes of traffic toward some gas pumps, luckily the car hit a curb and stopped short of the pumps on the sidewalk, she was turning into a bar, at least I say she was as everyone in the bar came out and went straight to her car and she basically hung out with them and caught a ride home from one of them, she was not injured and also not insured, I just have a nagging headache as my seat was pushed up and caused me to hit my head on the top of the door opening, I was lucky in the fact there was no oncoming traffic or I would have hit them, I am ok though but I don't think the car is...pics coming later today, need to lay down for a bit and cry .

Oh that sucks. I feel bad for you. Did she get a ticket? What are you going
to have to do, sue her? Hopefully you have full coverage. Did they check to see if she was drinking? Stupid people suck!

So sorry to hear this Moneyl.

Hoping, first off, you are 100% ... go get checked out by a doc and get documentation and pictures. Bruises will photograph better over next couple days. If you smacked your head, get that and your neck checked out. Don't fool with this.

If she is a total flake and no insurance, you will have to go after your own. Fortunately, FL law is pretty much on your side if things haven't changed over the years.... went through this myself a long time ago.

My white Comet got hit by a big box truck owned by a lacky roofing company back then ... he merged right into me ... dual rear wheels hit my passenger front fender and suspension and pushed the whole corner in about 4 inches. The car spent 4-5 hours on a frame machine with a real good buddy, and it actually drove straighter than before the wreck ... that car was a mess before I got it.

They only had $25K insurance, and my passenger had permanent neck injuries. Their insurance company laid over and gave us a check within months. The check from my insurance company took almost 2 years ... but was at the limit of my policy and came in right before they would have had to take it trial. They knew a trial would only cost them more lawyer fees.

Don't give up hope .... check your options out and be persistant. Be a BIG pain in the @ss ... otherwise, if people get the slightest inclination you don't care about something, they will let it slide.

Wow, sounds like you are lucky this wasn't alot worse. Hope you are ok. Ditto what Captain Comet said about the doc and pictures. Document everything! get a notebook and make notes on every trip to the doctor, every phone call you make and the names of those you talk to, get copies of all paperwork, diagnoses, dcotor's notes, etc. If you know or can find a private investigator it probably wont cost much to have them check out the woman who hit you, see what her driving record is, other lawsuits, etc. They can do that electronically and wouldn't take them long.

    Really sorry about the car!

Ok I am awake, I really wouldn't call what I did sleep though, been up since 6am, got my first look at the Grabber in the daylight, I am fine, I feel fine anyhow, no real pains this morning except pains about the car, yeah the cops even confiscated her tag from her car right then and there for no insurance, I wanted to take her face and shove it into the side of my car and say "do you see what you did, you just took three years of hard work away from me" she is in her mid 40's in age and was texting within seconds of getting out of her car, truth be known she was prolly texting when she hit me telling her friends at the bar she was turning in there, I said I would have some pics for ya'll so here ya go......

Oh man, I hate stories like this. All that hard work on your car! I'm glad you are feeling OK but don't take anything for granted, specially if you have headaches. Head injuries can creep up slowly, even days later.

No money for insurance but I bet she has money for cell phones, cigarettes and booze ............... I hate stupid people ...........

Wow man. Glad you are OK! Sorry about your car. That is just heartbreaking. I hope everything works out for you in the end. Texting while driving has become a very serious problem.

Make sure to see a doctor! That wasn't just a bump! I hope they hang the " b - - - h "!!! The thing that pisses me off the most is these people that have no insurance and God knows how many dui's can still drive! I lost a Falcon Sprint to an uninsured drunk!
I'm totally sorry about your car! It does look repairable, though.

Thats so lame man, glad you are alive and well for the most part.

However you know what you have to do. Dont let it slide, just get enough money for the cost of materials and the cost of YOUR labour from her and get her back on the road.
