I know that you have to change the proportioning valve on a 71 maverick with drum brakes all around if you put disc on the front. But I am putting disc all around so do I need to change the proportioning valve or not. Any help is appreciated.
I ran my drum-drum M/C and proportioning valve with 4 wheel disc...no problem... I was running larger tires in rear, that was my bias... ......
Thanks I didn't think it would be a problem I was running the car with disc on the front and with no problems . Now putting in a versailes 9 inch .I try to do things only once if i can .
David, even if you don't choose the prop valve make sure you install the blue (2lb) residual valve in the rear
Jack, I respectfully disagree. The blue 2 lb valve is for disc applications, the red 10 lb valve is for drums (see wilwood.com). One could argue that this check valve is only necessary when the master is mounted below the horizontal plane of the calipers and fluid drain back could occur from gravity and vibration, but for $20 I think it is a good idea to eliminate any iffy areas when it comes to brakes. Regards, Joe
Jack, Understood.Perhaps to prevent bleed on hills or inclines for instance? Without it car would still stop but for $20 I personally like the idea of a guaranteed consistant pedal, especially since it is apart anyway so it wouldn't be too much more work. Besides, the blue anodized valve looks cool
