oil????

    I'm now the proud owner of a 74 maverick!!!
    Hi guys, it's me again. My car is coming along nicely. Thanks to all the great advice ya'll have been giving me. :tiphat: It's been a long time since I had my last maverick and I forget what the best type of Motor oil I should use. :huh: I will post some updated pics soon. Thanks again guys!!!

    This is one of those questions, that you will get 20 different people to give you 20 different answers ............ :rofl2:

    My opinion:
    Stock engine - run a good brand name oil and add a little Lucas or ZDDP additive, as modern oils do not contain the anti-wear zinc they use to have. 10W-30 in normal climate and 10W-40 if you drive very long trips or it is very hot in summer where you live. If you drive in winter, change to a 5W-30.

    Modified engine:
    Synthetic of your choice - mine is Amsoil

    If you run a cheaper oil - change it more often ----- :rofl:

    Couldnt agree more with the previous post! :Handshake If this is a new build you will need to prime the oil pump. I used my old stock dist, broke it apart used the shaft on a corded drill, removed both head covers and primed it until I seen oil come flying out.

    all oils are...good...some are thought to be better...:rolleyes:
