What tranny fluid do you use?

    Type F in the "street" trannys that I build. Most don't want to spend the money on Red Line, Royal Purple, Amsoil etc.... However, those are all good/expensive oils. I ran mobil 1 0w-20 motor oil in my race c4 until it got up over $7.00 a quart. Now I just run castrol type-f in everything I run/build.

    Just because he has seen more installations in the same car than anybody, does not mean the number of different types of fluids has kept up with the installations. :D

    There is a "downside" to synthetic oils. They don't seem to get that "burnt smell" when they need to be changed. In other words, it seems harder to tell when it needs to be changed or if its gotten hot.

    I'm a little harder on mine so I use Autozone brand Dexron III/Mercon changed every 20 hours or once per season.

    I used DextronIII/Mercon in my C-4 when it was rebuilt 5 years ago.

    I use cooking oil and hamburger greese in my c4:rofl2:!

    amsoil syntheic and its real hard to burn up,fact if you do you have bigger issues

    looks like the Mobil Delvac sythetic automatic transmission fluid is used in Allison transmissions and can be bought in one gallon containers

    If it is a stock c4, any type F fluid will do.:)
