Not sure what your talking about (should be a screen) but it is where the PCV. goes with rubber gromet
Is it this intake? http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/tfs-in-9 r0.pdf (right click save as) It has the hole you mention, but surprisingly doesn't tell you what goes in there.
Its not that exact intake, it is a trick flow though. It's the track heat intake. I think all the rest of you guys are right about the pcv going there.
its the pcv port it also has a oil seperator screen that goes under it along with a rubber grommet, the screen is avalible at any parts store
Yes it is where the PCV goes with gromet but there is a screen/wire mesh at the bottom of the hole. Go to Ford and you can get a new one.
I was a tech in a Ford dealer for 25 years and it is PCV. Joe Dirt is right it is an oil separator. When the engines got a few miles on them those screens would clog up and the crankcase pressure would cause the intake manifold end gaskets to leak. As long as you're good about oil changes shouldn't be a problem.
