I purchased an Eliminator scoop from crites a while back and attached it to the Comet using the preinstalled studs, after a while vibration caused four of the seven studs to fall out of the scoop.

I have reinstalled the failed studs with two part epoxy (permatex) and now want to be sure that it wont fail again. Any recommendations on an adhesive or tape product to secure the scoop to the hood in addition to the studs?

3M makes a 2 sided tape that could be used. I have a Comet GT scoop on mine and it is just bolted down with the original hardware and I have had no issues.

I also have had scoops just bolted on to cars with no adhesive and have had no issues.

From above comments it looks like I just had some bad luck with mine; I did use lock washers and was careful to not over tighten.

Anyways I get the impression from google that urethane adhesive is the way to go along with the studs (jump in and stop me now if its a bad idea!)

To be clear from my first post I was asking for recommedations to secure the scoop to the hood in conjunction with the reinstalled studs to eliminate any possibility of the scoop coming off. I am well aware of loctite and other threadlockers; as stated previosly I used two part epoxy to reinstall the studs.

Yes I understood your question. Everyone seems to be giving good advice. I'm surprised it shook lose honestly with the epoxy. When I had my scope on the gt i never had that problem. I personally wouldn't want to put any kind of tape on it. I would go with the new studs an jb quick recommendation personally.
