Just curious what you plan to do in places such as inside wheelwells where you can see the back side of other panels that you normally don't see. Like the back of the front or rear lower balances.

I am pretty sure I have not seen a Comet with the lower lights in the valance.
That Comet just needs a scoop and some GT stripes now.. A little wider rear tires and me in the seat ;)

Ok I never noticed whether or not they had the lights in the lower valance. I'll be sure to get rid of those! (y) I'll be working on the scoop maybe tonight.

I'm still working on the chassis. I will add the inner wells and anything else that will help make it look more authentic. :thumbs2:

Andrew, I don't have programs that do this kind of stuff. Will you be able to build me/us cars to see if that is how we are wanting to go? If so I have a few requests :)

I'm planning on making this available to everyone on the board. I've already setup a website for which people can view and change the model using selection boxes. I think I made a youtube video about it and I posted the link in one of my previous posts. I'm gonna try to get this fully operational ASAP. In order to view the model, you will have to download and install a fairly large plugin (for free), then you can navigate to the model of your choice to begin testing new ideas. Once I get something up on the website, I'll post the link here for everyone to check out and work with it.

    That sounds great!

I would love to have the original version thought, I have never done Cad molding but i have done a little work with the CAD 3d basics eventually i would like to design a maverick spoiler and your model would be awesome to use with that.
I give you major props you probably have put over 30hrs into it(y)

...:yup:... Way over that... I think I'm up around 50 or 60 hours. I'm extremely picky and want it to look as authentic as I can. (y)

    ATTENTION:

I have a beta copy of a 71-72 Comet on my new website! (courtesy of Stefan (y))

It's available for you guys to try it out and see what you think.

Please watch this video for instructions: http://youtu.be/Uro0L8MDFK4

The link to the website is: brackenan.fordmaverick.net

Be sure to install the plugin before navigating any further into the website and you must be using Internet Explorer. Firefox, Google Chrome, etc don't work.

FYI: To view the model, it will require the plugin, a computer that's no more than 3-4 years old, and at least a broadband (no dial-up) internet connection, or else it will run very slowly. The size of the model has gone up exponentially since I last tested it.

****If you have any questions or issues in regards to viewing the model, please feel free to email me directly at brackenan@gmail.com.

So I'm curious to know if the website worked for anyone?

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted any progress. I'm working on the interior and trying to model the floorpan/chassis. Will work some more on it tonight and try and post some more pics.

EDIT: Also, I just tested it at work an older laptop (about 3 yrs old). The laptop is an HP EliteBook 6930p with 2GB of RAM and a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo p8600. It works on this laptop, but pretty slowly. But it's not agonizingly slow. Let me know how it works for you guys.

Wow. This is, quite possibly, one of the neatest things I've ever seen offered for common availability on a forum. Personally, I'm too far along in my project to make use of this particular model, but, jeeze, if I had been offered this opportunity a few years ago, I would be your first trial person.

If you took this even further, and rendered add-on options like hood pins, different wheel/tire combos, scoops, spoilers, stripes, interior options... basically, making a fully customizable car program available for forum members, I believe people would pay a little extra for this feature to be a part of their User CP (would work like paying for a "Supporting Membership") and it would be the first option of its kind to be offered for a "car enthusiast" forum. No other forum that I've seen offers a 3D rendering/layering option for the vehicle they are focusing on. It could generate a little more income for the forum and set the standard significantly higher for other forums. It would take a lot of time, though. That'd be a lot of drawing. Just a humble suggestion.

Don't really know how far you wanna go with this, but, the progress, so far, is awesome. You're very talented and I know many people who are just starting out will find this tool very useful. Keeping the classics alive with modern technology! Thank you for investing your time and efforts. It's much appreciated. :thumbs2:

I agree with Silver. You're doing an amazing job on this. I'm very impressed.

I think Silver has an awesome idea!! I think the forum would truly benefit from such an arrangement.

Brackenan: I did try the 'Comet' version online the other day and I think it is an invaluable tool!! Keep up the great work! You sir are a pioneer!

We sould all chip in and help get Brackenan a REAL Maverick for helping us get our 3D ones!

I also like that idea! I'll get a hold of Stefan and see what he thinks! (y)

Thank you, sir! :tiphat: I'm glad you like it! It's my pleasure!

Nah there's no need for that. I'm having a lot of fun doing it! :yup:

Although... :hmmm: Hmm... A REAL Maverick...? :16suspect Maybe someday soon I'll have my Maverick! :D

    Thanks for the thought! :)
