Dude that sucks!! :( Sorry to hear about that!! Hope you get it back on the road soon!

I know what it's like to have a new engine go down so quickly. Had a freshly built 302 in my last Mav. A friend of mine and I assembled it and put it in. Started and ran like a top for about 5 minutes, then the motor blew. Found out later that my friend neglected to tell me that he "may" have dropped a carb nut down my intake... So another $1500 later I had another new engine that I assembled MYSELF. Never let friends drink and help you assemble engines lol!!

Could've been much worse. Good thing you caught it quickly!

Oh....hell's no! Remind me to have anyone stand back 50 feet next time I get my car started....hopefully that never happens to my POS. :D
It has enough issues without turning into a radiator spray bomb. :biglaugh:

I think we all have one of these horror stories.
heres mine. I just put a new cam in my engine along with new oil pump edelbrock 650 4brl carb 8 MM wires bosch platinum plugs double roller timing chain and gears push rods and lifters
then fired it up sounded like a BEAST then something VERY quickly went wrong. it started back firing through the carb and stalling out on me. I couldnt figure out why. everything was in perfect time. new everything turns out I pulled a stud in the head since I neglected to change the valve springs that came in my cam kit sure felt stupid when I knew everything was together and lined up just right then got a couple of friends over to check it out and that happened

my sons comet had a breakdown a block from home on its first journey out. ran out of gas then we got gas in it and couldnt get it to pick up the gas nothing was going into the carb. thought the fuel pump was out then smelled gas strong. looked and found a HUGE hole in the rubber gas line.cut the line put it back on the metal line and what do you know it started lol
