Went to the swap meet in Long Beach this weekend and I came across a guy who was selling a maverick rear end with 3.00 gears and he done a disc conversion from a 1993 crown vic I believe ..I has already seen him selling it about 3 months ago at the swap meet but I didn't think much of it since I didn't have a Maverick at the time.So now that I do have my car I was thinking if this would be worth buying..The guy said it would bolt right on..I already have disc brakes up front so it would be pretty sweet having them all around..They guy was asking for $800..Is he asking for too much? here are some pictures

Looks like a 9" judging by the backside of the housing. Its not rounded like a 8".

He said all i would need were the spring perches off my old one..he said it was a maverick rear end and that he cut the ends and put the crown vic discs on and then welded it..he said he hot roded some maverick for some guy and that he made rear ends all the time..he said it would bolt right on with the spring perches

and actually now that I'm remembering he was mentioning something about a 9' housing you couldnt get a socket to the last two bolts on the bottom and that on a 8' you could

If you go this route buy new spring perches, they're like $20. Also if he builds rears why does this say maverick implying that this is a maverick specific rear, but has no spring perches? Sounds kinda sketchy.

I dont know if he does it all the time but he did mention that he made rear ends...and he said that he used to have a maverick but a guy wanted it and he asked him if he could hot rod it so he put a 9' rear end and a 351 windsor and sold it to the guy and he had this left over ..From what I comprehended

There could be lots of problems with that. The ends could have been welded on wrong. There could be worn out parts in the center section. It looks like the bleeder screws are not at the top of the callipers. This would make getting all the air out of the system difficult. When you weld spring pearches on the housing usually warps requireing streighting. At that price I would pass
