I have been searching forum on info about front sway bars. There seems to be a lot of differing opinions about what interchanges.I am looking for a 1" or 1 1/8" bar for my '73.Most all sources list a 7/8 bar for Mavrick.Does anyone KNOW what other bars interchange? Some say Granada bars will work.If anyone has a part# for a 1" or larger bar that will fit.... I do not have a problem with drilling new mountig holes if necesary. As allways lots of Mustang bars but what year fits if any? I plan to use Poly bushings in the control arms and sway bar mounts/links.Any and all comments wellcome.

I have a 7/8 bar from Performance Suspension Tech.
I have the polygraphite bushings. It is as stiff as I
would want it using KYB gas-a-just shocks. The shocks
cause a little bump/bounce, but the sway bar has
nothing to do with that. I think the 7/8 is fine for
    cornering on the street.
I did yank a sway bar off of a Granada that I found
in the junkyard, it was huge, but was not the same
shape as my original factory bar.

Thanks litleredtoy,I think thats what I will use.Did you put there rear bar on too? Was there any problems? I just ordered front springs(620 w/1"drop)whith perches and cushions all for $94.00 from Laurel Mountain Mustang.com .They were very helpful even when I told them they were for a Maverick.Do you like the handling w/KYB shocks? Anyone know of a better shock? $ is an issue.

    No, no rear sway bar

    The KYB shocks are stiff.
I have Gabriels on the rear.

    Sway bar

:( :( I only had one !! response about sway bar interchange for my '73.:( I have built a few Falcons and one Mustang and those bars sure look they might fit.I was hoping someone here could tell me why the Must. bar wo'nt fit. The only reason I am asking is because of the price $ for the Maverick bars seems to be about double that of Mustang bar.If no one here has ever tried to use a bar from a Mustang I think I will.Grab-a-trac bar for Mustang is $75.P-S-T bar for Maverick is $169. Last bar I bougt from Addco was only $110.On all my Falcons and Mustang the norm was to use 1" in front and 3/4" in back.I just thought that would apply to Mavericks too.Any way-Its good to here what others have done to make there Mavericks GREAT.I will be puting a rear bar from a Mustang on.

Dave; I was going to try the Granada bar, but it is said that it won't fit. Never considered a Falcon bar. We should discuss that sometime. BTW, have you been to Melvin's? May go tomorrow. Later,

    FoMoDave:

I bought a Mustangs Plus $75 swaybar for my Maverick. Its a 1" bar, made for a '65-'66 Mustang. It is roughly 1" too long for a mav. I made some temp. spacers that moved the mount forward 1", and it appears that it should work. I plan to cut-off the swaybar (mounting) brackets, and reweld them 1" forward.
But, I have not done this yet, so I can't say it WILL work.
    Just my $.02

Sway-bars are so over-priced. I paid 10 bucks for mine from a junkyard (7/8"). The rear is gonna cost me a fortune.

Unfortunately, there really aren't any other models of Fords with swaybars that will perfectly fit a Maverick. It has to do with the track width and width of the frame. I have heard that Addco will custom-make you one of a larger size. I have no idea of the cost but I bet it ain't cheap. I'd like to have a 1" or 1-1/8" up front. It's a pretty low priority right now though...

I heard the same thing and when I called they said the guy wo used to do that work quit but they put me in contact with him.www.sanerperffab.com

I had a 1" bar made....It wasn't that cheap about two years ago. He had to get the specs from Addco first.

custom made addco bars are not expensive in my opinion but everyone has their own idea of what that constitutes.
we have 1 1/8 front and 7/8 rear addco bars, and are very happy with the product.

Custom made bars-How much? I like the idea of using early mustang bar if width is correct.I cant spend a lot on custom bars, would rather save money for other things.I am shocked  at price differance between Mustang and Maverik parts. As the demand for Maverick parts grows so will supply. We as owners have to keep pressure on supplyers. They can only sell parts if the demand is there and they can make a profit. They must be convinced there IS a market for the parts BEFORE they can produce them.Of course as demand goes up so does price:( .
