Had problems with new carburetor I installed 2 months ago so I put the old carb back on. It runs better than it ever has. Good thing I didn't return it for the $7.00 core charge. I can make tire smoke again

That looks very nice. I can't wait to see it with paint on.

I finished pulling everything out my engine bay today (belly bar, brake lines etc...) and pulled the rear tires off so I could really see behind the rear quarters. Realized there is a more rust than I thought. The driver side has about a 2 inch hole and the passenger has some smaller holes. Both need work on the inner panel that seals to the trunk.

Media blasted those hard to reach places getting ready for primer and it started raining on me! We are in a severe drought! Nice luck.

As the former owner of an auto parts store I can tell you that most rebuilt carbs are junk. Best bet is to go through your original if possible. Have you thought of concerting to a 2 barrel? We just did my son's 250 and it runs great.

We need to replace the Head Gasket on my son's 74 250 and discovered that one of the allen bolts that holds on the aluminum valve cover is rounded! Of course it is the rear bolt. Can't quite get a drill pack there to drill it a bit and the screw extractor doesn't have enough bite without drilling it a little. After fighting it for 4 hours in the Arizona heat we decided the oil drip is acceptable for another week. Looking into getting a flexible shaft for the drill if I can find one with a small enough chuck or if I can find a longer drill bit. Don't want to pull the hood off nor pull the motor. Did try to use my Dremel with flexible shaft, but the end came apart before we could make any progress (why wasn't I wearing my safety glasses?).
If it comes down to pulling the motor I will have Classic Inlines build a 250 and we will use this motor in the 70.

Very nice. I wanted a 57 in '63' but they were just out of my price range so I got a 56 BelAir 2dr post.....................loved that car once I got everything sorted out...................but I like the 57's more.

looks like a solid start to a build. if the rest of the car is that good of shape youre in for a NICE CAR WITHOUT ALL OF THE HEADACHES :thumbs2:

thats my all time favorite car! well the bel air 2 door hard top anyway. I envy you on the build keep us posted. theres lots of us ford guys who secretly love chevys just as much :D

I would love to get ahold of a set of those fenders. I want to cut the headlight area off and mold it onto my comet:hmmm:. I love that round yet pointed front end.

    BRING BACK THE FINS!!!!
