Round two today ... the most exhausting part of the job was removing the four bolts on the front bumper frame mounts ...I'm glad the first one turned out to be the hardest because it was a beetch! Got the spoiler mounted as well ... I've decided to notch the front gravel guard instead of hacking up a perfectly good set of fenders.

What method are you going to use to attach the front brackets?

Not 100% sure yet about the brackets. I will either drill all the way through the frame and bolt them that way or use the Dan Starnes method and only drill the outside and make a slot for the head of the bolt and slip it into the frame and then tighten it down.

Good idea Frank ... I could dremel a slot similar to gas tank slot as well. I'll have to see what size bolts ACE Hardware has of that type. Is it a stove bolt or a carriage bolt - sort of like bumper bolts with the square flange below the rounded head.

Dennis ... you did say you have used the 67/68 Mustang rear inner trunk bumper brackets and they worked? The reason I ask is that they look the same in pictures but the Ford Parts book does show the Mavericks as having a different number. Green wants $30 each for the Maverick NOS brackets and the repop Mustang brackets are only $15 .... Thanks ... I'll probably pick up a set of Mustang brackets at Moultrie if you can confirm they work .... Dan

Worked on the front today ... couldn't find my Dremel cut off blades so I didn't install the gravel pan. The front bumper looks like a pretzel ... it's coming off later today to use as a core for a new one at the Moultrie swap meet this weekend. I hope they take it .... :)

Edit: Oh ... Forgot I had some Grabber Bezels ....

Yeah ... I'm gonna smooth and spray bomb the valances and rear spoiler myself. Gotta do the sport mirrors too ... Someday I'll got the hole car repainted but for now it's just gonna be a nice driver .... For the folks that say they like the big bumpers ... to each their own I guess ....

And without the big bumpers even the side moldings are starting to look good!
